it was so easy then.

I remember a time, rompin' through the woods
Sun against our skin instead of clothes
When we felt hungry we would eat
When we felt glad we'd dance
And whenever we felt drowsy we would doze

It was so easy then never takin' any stands
It was so easy then, holdin' hands

I remember a time when our fears could be named
And courage meant not refusing dares
I remember when we took such cares to step never on the cracks,
no only on the squares
Or else we'd be abducted by the bears

It was so easy then never makin' any plans
It was so easy then, holdin' hands
It was so easy then never makin' any plans
It was so easy then, holdin' hands

she. she's turning 13 in 17 days. how, when, why?!!! it goes so fast. she is blossoming more + more with each passing day and i just have to take a moment. be still. and remember. and that's what i'm going to do. remember every moment of birthing, loving, feeding, caring, laughing, comforting, cherishing this creature who drifted into my life after my mother drifted out and made everything whole again. and again. xo

snippets from an impromptu wake at dawn trip to the sunflower field at colby farm - nobody else around. my gal + her beloved goober - tiptoeing through the sunflowers right into my heart. oh annie, you darling girl. how i have loved loving you.

who loved his daughter more.

If you leap awake in the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second you can't remember where you are
Just open your window and follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain where we counted every falling star

I believe a light that shines on you will shine on you forever
And though I can't guarantee there's nothing scary hiding under your bed
I'm gonna stand guard like a postcard of a Golden Retriever
And never leave 'til I leave you with a sweet dream in your head

I'm gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you'll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition
It's just like goin' fishin'
You cast your line and hope you get a bite
But you don't need to waste your time
Worryin' about the market place
Try to help the human race

Struggling to survive its harshest night

- this is the song that Bil will dance to with Annie at her wedding - far in the future! xo.

Happy Father's Day Bil.
Words can't express how grateful I am to you for being the amazing father that you are to our little girl.
She adores you.
You adore her.
That's all that matters.
From the second she was born I knew she would truly be the love of your life.
You remain the calm in our stormy seas, you guide her so gently and so true.
Thank you.
